We are keen to expand our mental health support across our core programmes, which take place every week across multiple locations. Our beneficiaries (players) are able to access additional group and one-to-one support to build their self-esteem and improve social connection.

    Situation

1 in 4 people Scotland experience issues with their mental health. Post-COVID, there is a growing mental health crisis for people of all ages in Scotland and this has meant there has been an increased demand on our support services. Working mainly with those experiencing social isolation, homelessness, substance misuse and an increased focus on work with refugees, a lack of accessible support services has meant that we have dedicated more focus on specific mental health and wellbeing projects.

    Solution

We deliver a free trauma informed service, led by those with lived-experience that requires no referral and provides holistic support that is not time-limited. 96% of players think our service is unique and 89% say that our work has positively impacted their mental health. We use football as a connecting tool to bring people together, helping create hope, opportunity and promotes inclusion. Our team have a range of skills and experience which allow players to access support on & off the pitch.
